Creating art fulfills the need to make a mark; to say something with images. Whether through the scribbles of a child, the graffiti of street artists or the Neolithic drawings of cave dwellers, the motivation is the same.
Growing up in an artistic family in Northern Ireland I have always enjoyed painting. After Texas became home I spent a couple of years taking still life and landscape classes at the Williamson Studio and Houston Art League. However, the subjective and emotional precept of abstract art inspired me to experiment with that genre. By 2018 it was my main focus.
My work explores the idea of a continuum: how the past influences the present through a unique memory or sense of time and place.
I have exhibited through Oil Painters of America and American Women Artists and locally at Reeves Art + Design and Archway Gallery.
